HTC Incredible S, is now available on Vodafone and O2

THE FIRST HTC Android phone of 2011, the HTC Incredible S, is now available on Vodafone and O2 contracts.

Mobiles.co.uk, a division of the Carphone Warehouse, tweeted that the HTC smartphone is now available on order from its website. It also claimed that the handset could be delivered tomorrow if you got in early.
As Carphone Warehouse has the exclusive for now, it won't be available direct from O2 or Vodafone. This means that if you want to upgrade, you'll have to go with the deals Carphone Warehouse offers, at least for now.

Premiered at Mobile World Congress with the HTC Desire S and Wildfire S, it's the first in the Incredible line to hit the UK. The Incredible S looks to be pitched as a device that offers the HTC Desire HD's 8MP camera and HD 720p video recording, but with a smaller 4-inch screen. The Desire HD has a slightly larger 4.3-inch screen.

Otherwise its specifications look quite similar to those of the upcoming 3.7-inch HTC Desire S, with a single-core 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 1.1GB of internal memory. It'll come out with Android 2.2, but will be updated to Android 2.3 Gingerbread in an over-the-air update. HTC has normally been pretty good with its Android updates, so we have faith that won't take too long to arrive.

The new HTC Android phones look perfectly fine, but they lack that X-factor that the dual-core Samsung Galaxy S2 and LG Optimus 3D have. Obviously you could make the point that we don't really need dual-core processors for current processing requirements, but it's nice to have that extra bit of power, right?
